Kirtan for Hurricane Relief

We have all been reeling from the devastating effects of hurricanes Milton & Helene, whether we were directly affected, or from our grief for our brothers & sisters who have been affected. Let's come together in community, express our gratitude for our lives, for each other and to raise the vibration to benefit the recovery of those who are still suffering. Our chanting together is powerful, heart-opening and healing not just for ourselves, but for all beings.

ALL DONATIONS WILL GO TO HURRICANE RELIEF IN FLORIDA.

Suggested Love Offering: $20 (no one gets turned away for lack of funds)

If you cannot attend the kirtan, but would like to make a donation, I’ve included The Urban Ashram’s QR codes for Venmo and Zelle (I don’t know how to make them smaller!)

Bring your water bottles, something comfy to sit on (there are a few chairs/blankets/bolsters at The Urban Ashram), and a few friends. The world needs kirtan now more than ever. Let’s help raise the collective vibration together!

YIN YOGA w/ LIVE SACRED MUSIC & GONG BATH

Register by calling The Urban Ashram: 407-558-4696

Allow Dana Kaplan, E-RYT 500 to guide you through a deep, restorative yin yoga practice that will prepare you for a great night of rest! Yin yoga is a series of long-held floor poses in which we relax the muscles completely to allow the gentle stress of the pose to sink into the deep connective tissues (joints, ligaments, bones, cartilages, tendons & fascia). This gentle stressing of the connective tissues increases our range of motion. The focus is on the hips and lower back where we are abundant in these yin tissues. This practice is accessible to all levels of practice. Dana’s voice will guide and relax you. Richard’s heavenly music will help you to let go completely and go even deeper into bliss. The practice will end with a guided meditation and sound bath.

About our touring guest musician, Richard Brookens:

Following the energy of a Yoga class with live music, sometimes over original recorded tracks is a natural fit for a jazz musician who is also a Yoga teacher.  Richard’s Alto Flute, Bamboo flutes from India and China, Gongs, Crystal Chakra Bowls and Tibetan Singing Bowls, Chimes, and Ancient Sanskrit Mantra melodies create a tapestry of uplifting and peaceful vibes, opening the heart as the Asana opens the body.

Richard Brookens has been a professional musician for over 50 years and has taught Yoga and Meditation for the last 25 years. It was an organic process for him to combine his love of music and Yoga to play for Yoga classes over 20 years ago. He is currently on the faculty of Barry University in Miami, Florida and currently teaches 15 Yoga and Meditation classes a week.

Energy Exchange: $35

Space is limited. Pre-Registration highly recommended

Register at The Urban Ashram: 407-558-4696

***What to bring***

Your yoga mat and any other props you have (blankets, pillows, blocks, bolsters).

To support the relaxation of the muscles in the yin poses, props are highly recommended.

Only a limited number of props will be available at the center.

Join Bhakti Sisters Kristen Ambrosi and Dana Kaplan for a renewal of body, mind and spirit through the practice of Kirtan.

Kristen, who resides in CT, and Dana first met at David Newman’s Kirtan College in Yogaville in the fall of 2015. It was an instant heart connection and beautiful vocal blending. They have been looking to collaborate ever since and are so excited that it is finally happening!

About our visiting artist: Kristen is appreciated for her warm presence and moving vocals. This devotional, uplifting practice of bhakti yoga – gathering interfaith groups where all voices blend into one-brings her heart home. She has been leading kirtan at studios throughout the northeast and at Yoga Festivals including Lovelight and BlessFest. She has been privileged to sing response alongside renowned kirtan leaders such as Dave Stringer, Brenda McMorrow, Mirabai Moon, Johanna Beekman, Scott Hari Whitmore, David Newman and her beloved sister Sangita. Kristen offers live chanting to support students’ meditation and restoration for her own yoga classes as well as for her respected teacher, Jillian Pransky’s popular retreats at Kripalu, Omega and other venues. Exploring the Vibration of Wholeness with Yvette OM

Exploring the Vibration of Wholeness with Yvette OM

Immerse into Sacred Sounding of Sanskrit Mantras for Wholeness and Joy. At a time when our world seems balanced on a string, our minds may be particularly influential regarding our connectedness to Self Love, Wholeness and Happiness. What confuses and thwarts your Joy? Is it a stubborn inner judgment? Or the insistent conflicted parts of you applauding your attention? Consequently, what is ours inherently to celebrate can appear disparate and elusive.  During this two hour workshop, we will sanctify our Wholeness together through chant, music, meditation, reflection and journaling.

“ It is through the sounding of ‘Purnam’, the seed potential within all beings, that the Whole heart is experienced and set free.”

Like the Goddess Rising 3: A Shakti Kirtan Celebration! on Saturday 3/16/24, the workshop also takes place at The Kaplan Shakti Shala: a private home in Longwood, FL (Orlando area). Address will be provided upon registration.

All registration options provided in registration link. Make sure to register for BOTH Saturday’s Kirtan Fest AND Sunday’s workshop together as the COMBO get the deepest experience, and to save! Early Bird Pricing is available through 2/29/24. Pricing goes up March 1st.

About the Presenting Organization

Dana Kaplan is an experienced yoga teacher registered with Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500), a mantra artist leading the kirtan band To Bring Devotion as well as certified Laughter Yoga teacher.
